If you thought that then you’d be wrong. Kitten season in Georgia is a nine month long event. So, here we are creeping up on September and guess what? Camp Kitty has another litter of kittens available for adoption.
I told myself that I wouldn’t take anymore felines in until Duck and Fiona were fully recovered and Rocco got adopted. I guess I lied to myself. Well, I’d like to think I was swayed and it was this photo from the Paulding County Animal Control Facebook photo album that did it:
And, a not-so-fun fact to go with that adorable photo: Paulding County Animal Control euthanized 253 out of 348 of the animals they processed in July. Less than 100 animals made it out of there alive last month.
Back to the kitties…the first photo I saw was of the domestic medium-haired (DMH) orange kitty. Ever since I purchased the book “Dewey” and had a DMH named Paco board at the camp I’ve been wanting a fuzzy orange fella. I told AARF that I’d foster him. And, then I did something shouldn’t have, I decided to look at all the photos in the photo album and that’s when I came across this:
How could I not take the crabby tabbies, too? The one on the right is giving Nip a run for his money in the side-eye department. I told AARF if they have the funds I could take all the felines in the photo. But, wait there’s more! When Renee, AARF’s resident super hero (aka Animal Services Director), arrived at animal control to pull the kitties it turned out there were five total kitties in the litter. She certainly couldn’t leave two behind. The staff and volunteers at Paulding County AC were so desperate to get the litter out that they donated money to the rescue effort.
Yesterday a bundle of kitty joy arrived at Camp Kitty.
Nip cannot believe what he's seeing.
There are three male and two female DMH felines. I was told that they were surrendered by their owner on August 18th at 6-weeks of age. So, they’re 8-weeks-old this week. The three boys will be living at Camp Kitty and the two girls will be calling AARF Pet Central their foster home. Introducing…
Rooney
Tobias (aka Nip Jr)
Malcolm
And, here are the girls who don’t yet have names
I don’t yet know the details of their individual personalities, but they are cute and playful. If you are interested in adopting them or any other AARF cat you can submit an application (http://www.aarfatlanta.org/adoptionapp2006.html).
